Event Costs
From time to time, we may offer optional events that could enhance your child's learning experience. These events may incur an additional cost per participating child. We will provide parents with at least 30 days' advance notice of any such events and their associated costs, allowing ample time for you to decide whether your child wishes to participate.
Accreditation
Could you tell me more about the accreditation process you are pursuing and the qualifications of your instructors?
Mosaic instructors hold a post-secondary degree, ensuring a high level of expertise in their fields. While we are currently in the process of pursuing accreditation, we use curriculum from accredited sources to guarantee the academic quality of our programs. Our goal is to achieve an accreditation level that aligns with our instructional ideals as we grow to serve our community.

What is the Flipped Classroom Model?
The flipped classroom is a learning model where traditional classroom activities are reversed. Instead of the teacher lecturing in class and students doing homework at home, students watch video lessons or read materials for homework. This model gives parents the unique opportunity to engage with the lesson content alongside their children. Then, during in-class time, students work on hands-on projects, collaborate with peers, and get direct, one-on-one help from their teacher as they apply what they've learned. This model ensures that the teacher is available to guide students through the most challenging parts of the lesson while also allowing them to learn at their own pace.
What is your idea of cultural responsibility?
At Mosaic, we believe every child is valuable and deserves to feel seen. Our commitment to value-centered inclusion means we intentionally select curriculum and resources that celebrate diverse voices, images, and experiences. Our goal is to ensure that every student sees their own reflection in their education, helping to eradicate "otherness" and empower them to thrive academically while embracing their unique identity.
Late Payment Fees
We know life can be unpredictable. Please communicate with us at mosaic@theblackout.academy if you anticipate any difficulty with your tuition. Our top priority is to work with you to ensure your child remains with their cohort and continues to thrive. We never want cost to be a barrier to education.
If an account has an outstanding balance after a 14-day grace period from the due date, a $10.00 late fee will be assessed. Students with accounts more than 60 days past due will be unable to attend class.

Why do you use the Socratic Seminar Methodology?
The Socratic Seminar is a learning method that uses a formal, guided conversation to help students think critically. Rather than a teacher simply lecturing, students are challenged to discuss a text or topic by asking and answering open-ended questions. The goal isn't to find one right answer but to explore different ideas, viewpoints, and interpretations. Through this method, students learn to listen carefully, express their own thoughts respectfully, and support their ideas with evidence from the text.
This method is particularly important for junior high and high school students because it moves them from being passive learners to active, independent thinkers. It teaches them to question information, form their own opinions, and articulate their thoughts clearly—all essential skills for success in college and beyond. Socratic seminars also help students develop crucial communication skills, preparing them to engage in respectful dialogue and consider different perspectives, which is vital in a diverse and complex world.
