Algebra 2
Algebra 2 is an advanced high school mathematics course that builds upon the foundational concepts introduced in Algebra 1 and Geometry. This course offers deeper dive into the study of functions, extending students' understanding beyond linear and basic quadratic relationships. Key areas of study include a comprehensive analysis of various function families (polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, radical), advanced techniques for solving equations and inequalities, and an introduction to complex numbers. Students will explore inverse functions, transformations of functions, and apply these concepts to model and solve sophisticated real-world problems. The course also typically includes an introduction to sequences, series, probability, and statistics.

Course Goals
Upon successful completion of Algebra 2, students will be able to:
and more!
- Analyze and graph various types of functions (polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, radical).
- Perform operations with and factor advanced polynomials.
- Solve complex equations and inequalities involving different function types.
- Understand and apply the properties of complex numbers.
- Manipulate and simplify rational and radical expressions.
- Solve systems of equations and inequalities using advanced methods.
- Understand and apply concepts of sequences, series, and probability.
- Model real-world situations using appropriate algebraic functions.
and more!
Considerations for 9th Grade
For advanced 9th graders, this course will be challenging but rewarding. The pace will likely be brisk, and a strong foundation in Algebra 1 is crucial. More time might be spent on foundational concepts in the early units if needed.
Considerations for 10th Grade
This is the most common grade level for Algebra 2. The pace is typically well-suited, allowing for deeper exploration of concepts and varied problem-solving strategies
Considerations for 11th & 12th grade
Students taking Algebra 2 in 11th or 12th grade might be preparing for pre-calculus or other advanced math courses. The course can be taught with an emphasis on preparing for college-level mathematics, potentially incorporating more advanced applications or critical thinking problems.
